Trauma Buddy

Undergraduate Project, 2021

Recycled fabric, thread, and stuffing

This project was devised around the concept of a device that could help accomplish a task. The finished prototype is a stuffed animal that both serves as a visual manifestation of trauma as well as a tool to mitigate symptoms.

The “Trauma Buddy” sits on one’s shoulders, with the user able to hold its hands for comfort as well as block their eyes or ears to triggering stimuli. it contains positive messages to provide additional comfort.

Overall, the project aims to raise awareness for the ways in which trauma can affect individuals on a daily basis.
