Nervosa

Through this project, I wanted to visualize what extreme body dissatisfaction and intrusive thoughts could look like when manifested into reality.

I made a series of mixed-media sculptures that hung from the ceiling by fishing line, using multiple light sources to cast shadows around the bathroom. The sculptures, made out of wire skeletons encased in nylon in order to approximate the appearance of contorted human bodies, serve to represent an extreme sense of distorted self-image and harmful thoughts.
